One of Kilimanjaro's most scenic and successful routes, the Lemosho Route offers breathtaking landscapes, excellent acclimatization, and a high summit success rate. Over eight days, you’ll hike through lush rainforests, high-altitude moorlands, and alpine desert landscapes before reaching the icy, windswept summit of Uhuru Peak.

Day 1 - Aug 2nd: Arrival

Welcome to Tanzania! You’ll be greeted at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your comfortable accommodations near Arusha, where you can settle in, meet your fellow climbers, and enjoy a warm welcome dinner. Take in the stunning views of Mount Meru as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2 - Aug 3rd: Rest Day

Today is all about relaxation and final preparations. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, explore the local surroundings, or take a short guided walk. In the afternoon, you’ll have a detailed briefing with your guides, check your gear, and ensure everything is in place for the climb. Tonight, rest well—tomorrow, the real adventure begins!

Day 3 - Aug 4th: Into the Rainforest (2,000m/6,600ft - 2,800m/9,100ft)

Your journey begins at the Lemosho Gate, where you’ll trek through ancient rainforests filled with monkeys and exotic birds. This is a gentle first day, allowing you to ease into the adventure.

Day 4 - Aug 5th : Moorlands & Mountain Views (2,800m/9,100ft - 3,500m/11,500ft)

As the forest clears, you’ll enter moorland terrain, with your first clear views of Kilimanjaro’s mighty Kibo Peak rising in the distance.

Day 5 - Aug 6th: Across the Shira Plateau (3,500m/11,500ft - 3,840m/12,600ft)

Trekking across the vast Shira Plateau, you’ll feel the altitude but also the thrill of walking above the clouds. If the skies are clear, the glaciers of Kilimanjaro’s Western Breach will come into view.

Day 6 - Aug 7th: Acclimatization at Lava Tower (3,840m/12,600ft - 4,550m/14,900ft - 3,850m/12,650ft)

A key acclimatization day, you’ll ascend to Lava Tower, a striking 300-foot volcanic rock formation, before descending to Barranco Camp. This strategic approach helps your body adjust to the altitude, increasing your summit success.

 Day 7 - Aug 8th: The Barranco Wall & High-Altitude Desert (3,850m/12,650ft - 3,995m/13,106ft)

Today begins with the thrilling ascent of the Barranco Wall, a challenging yet achievable scramble offering some of the best views of the trek. From there, you’ll hike through valleys carved by ancient glaciers before reaching Karanga Camp.

 Day 8 - Aug 9th: Base Camp – The Final Push (3,995m/13,106ft - 4,600m/15,100ft)

A short but steep trek takes you to Barafu Camp, the final stop before your summit attempt. Here, you’ll rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the biggest challenge of all—summit night.

Day 9 - Aug 10th: Summit Day – Standing on the Roof of Africa (4,600m/15,100ft - 5,895m/19,300ft - 3,100m/10,200ft)

Before midnight, you’ll begin your final ascent. Trekking in the dark, you’ll push through the toughest section of the climb, following your guide’s steady pace.

Reaching Stella Point (5,685m) just before sunrise, you’ll witness a breathtaking moment as the first light touches the glaciers. With one final push, you’ll reach Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa.

Take it all in. You did this.

After celebrating your achievement, you’ll begin your descent, making your way to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.

Day 10 - Aug 11th: Back to Civilization (3,100m/10,200ft - 1,980m/6,500ft)

Your final descent takes you back through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate before returning to the lodge for a hot shower, a celebratory meal, and maybe even a Kilimanjaro beer.
